About Us

InnkeepersIn 1986, their love of the water and nature led Bob and Barb Schiesser to purchase the lakeside property on which Sunrise Landing Bed and Breakfast now stands. After camping on the property for several years, they envisioned building a Seneca Lake vacation retreat to enjoy getaways with their large family and with friends.

Their dream was realized when they were able to build their original lake house – a three-bedroom, cedar contemporary home. After a few years, their love of the area and their fond memories spent at B&Bs in the past inspired them to expand their lake house and create Sunrise Landing Bed and Breakfast.

Sunrise Landing offers two upstairs suites each comprised of a comfortable bedroom, bath, and sitting room, one with an inviting balcony overlooking the lake. Presently, two spacious and charming ground level apartments offer guests an option to stay with the traditional Bed and Breakfast option, or a Rental Option. Both apartments have ample space, beautiful lake views, fully equipped kitchens, and private patios. The rental option enables guests who prefer to be responsible for their own breakfast to be able to enjoy the luxury of these apartments at a reduced rate and lower tax rate.

For twenty years, Sunrise Landing was a labor of love for Bob and Barb. In 2022, with an eye to the future and to keep their precious creation in the family, they sold the property to their older son, Mark, and their daughter-in- law, Bridgette. Bob and Barb continued to own and operate the Bed and Breakfast until 2023 when they passed the torch to Mark and Bridgette who gratefully announced that friends, Mary and Paul Fromm from Brighton, NY would be the new Innkeepers for the 2024 season.

Mary and Paul Fromm

Warm and welcoming people, Mary and Paul are the perfect couple to carry on the tradition of welcoming guests to Sunrise Landing. Both are retired engineers from Xerox and were raised in big families.  Mary loves to bake, and Paul has a way with breakfast. They love the outdoors and the water and are inspired by the beauty and vibrancy of the Finger Lakes region. They look forward to meeting the scores of new guests who discover Sunrise Landing each season as well as the many who return each year.

Bob and Barb will continue to be involved in Sunrise Landing, filling in for Mary and Paul as needed, and helping with various jobs behind the scenes. When you come to stay at Sunrise Landing, don’t be surprised if you catch a glimpse of Bob on the tractor or in the workshop, or Barb in the kitchen. Staying away completely might be an impossibility for the couple who created Sunrise Landing.
