Recently we've had some beautiful, sunny days here on Seneca Lake. Looking out at the clear, blue water sparkling in the sunshine, one could almost believe that all is right with the world. Fortunately, we are fine here albeit yearning for normalcy - as are so many people during this unusual time of "stay at home" policies. We are blessed, as we are healthy - and fortunate to have a beautiful spot in which to isolate and stay safe.
As spring has been slowly emerging in spurts from the seemingly never ending frigid weather, we have simultaneously been considering our ...
The Himrod Eagle Restaurant has been one of our favorite casual restaurants for years. It has also been one of our recommendations for guests who want a casual, close place that has good food. Recently this popular local spot was sold and is under new ownership by Gage Oughterson, co-owner of Highland Cellars and Finger Lakes Wine Company. One always wonders when new management takes over a popular restaurant, what the results will be.
Even though the new owners technically took over the restaurant a couple of weeks ago, Saturday, February 22 was the Grand ...
This is the first of a series of posts highlighting some of the exciting Finger Lakes area attractions which are available to visitors and residents alike. We will begin with restaurants and will focus predominantly on the Seneca Lake area but others may also be included. Personal tastes vary widely so be advised that because a venue or business is included doesn’t automatically make it a recommendation. We will try to highlight what we think are the strengths – and on occasion may point to things that we feel, from our own experience, could be improved. We encourage ...

The weekend went well and the holiday food, wine and festivities seemed to be enjoyed by all. In spite of a second winter storm with significant snowfall, the weather had cleared prior to the weekend and Bob managed to get Apple Road cleared well enough so that getting in and out was a breeze for all.

Williams Sonoma is one of my favorite sources for yummy recipes that always work. This one I have been making since we opened our Bed and Breakfast almost 14 years ago. It is from their muffin cookbook. As a rule, I use King Arthur all-purpose unbleached white flour. For Gluten Free guests I now use King Arthur, Gluten Free Measure for Measure Flour Mixture and it works so well that when I have guests who require Gluten Free, I serve the Gluten Free to all guests, and still get rave reviews. (I use King Arthur all-purpose unbleached white flour), or use Link for Gluten ...
