Spring Greetings to all our VIP guests (anyone who has stayed at Sunrise Landing in the past is a VIP to us). It looks like spring is here to stay – the lake is glistening in the sunshine, and Bob and his helpers have been busy beavers completing the spring chores to get ready for our 2025 opening on June 6. In addition, the Sunflower apartment has received a lot of attention. The deck has been almost completely rebuilt, and the living area also has benefited from some sprucing up, including a beautiful, new queen-size, leather sofa bed.
Reservations are coming in at a steady pace and, as usual, weekends are filling up. While there are still plenty of dates available, we urge you to reserve early so you will not be disappointed. If the system doesn’t pick up your returning guest status when you make your reservation and we also happen to miss it, please do remind us so we can apply your 10% VIP discount when you check out.
Mary and Paul will again be your hosts at Sunrise Landing this year. We heard from so many of you, how much you appreciated their warm and welcoming hospitality and, of course, their wonderful gourmet breakfasts. They’ll be presenting some of your old favorites along with some new recipes they cannot wait to serve.
There is always so much to do around Seneca and our neighboring lakes. Just a mile to the south of Sunrise Landing at the Glenora Winery – the Glenora 2025 Jazz Greats concert season has two exciting events planned for you. On July 20th, Spyro Gyra, the contemporary jazz powerhouse will entertain with their signature mix of Latin influenced jazz and funk. On August 17th, the natural-born showman, Eric Darius, will display his artistry blending jazz with R&B, hip hop, funk, and pop. You won’t want to miss either of these opportunities with amazing music, camaraderie, and great food and drinks available for purchase. Concerts are held on the vineyard stage – rain or shine. Bring your own chairs and/or blankets. Just a heads up that Sunrise Landing is already fully booked for the July date but there is availability for the August date. For more information visit the winery’s website here.
If you’re in the mood for a beautiful drive – head to the other side of the lake on Friday nights. Wagner Valley Brewing Company and Wagner Estate Winery will offer their Friday Night Sunset Music Series. Enjoy the spectacular sunset and enjoy a light dinner and live music between 6:30 and 9 PM. For more information check out their website Wagner Vineyards.
Or “Kick Off the Summer” – on the very first weekend we are open at The Smokin Summer Kick-Off – being held at Hazlitt Winery June 7 – 8. It’s a multi-winery event set against the backdrop of a beautiful vista and will highlight superb summer wines paired with delicious grilled food offerings. Join in the best tastes of summer. For more information see the Hazlitt Vineyards website.
In addition to the previous small sampling of the good times, there are so many more to be had all summer long and into the fall, around beautiful Seneca Lake and surrounding lakes. Be sure to check out the Fox Run Winery website for their schedule of events. For more information on area attractions check out the Sunrise Landing website or Finger Lakes Tourism. Be sure to also ask Mary and Paul too – they do a great job of keeping an eye on what is happening. They are looking forward to welcoming you back and it will be their pleasure to do all they can to make your visit to Seneca Lake a relaxing and memorable experience.
As always, we will be helping out now and then, and will be filling in for Mary and Paul on a couple of occasions.
Happy Summer and Fall,
Barb and Bob
